Accettare fino in fondo il Vangelo e l’insegnamento della Chiesa deve portare noi cristiani a denunciare fermamente l’imperante ondata di xenofobia nei vostri confronti, e deve farci andare controcorrente rispetto al dilagare del razzismo camuffato da presunta “sicurezza”. Inoltre, deve porci di fronte ad un dissidio inconciliabile: l’impossibilità di rispettare le leggi dello Stato che si ergono come muro ad arginare la massa dei disperati che preme.
Nella Bibbia si legge: “non dimenticate la filoxenia, alcuni praticandola, senza saperlo hanno accolto degli angeli” (Eb.13, 2). L’autore della lettera agli Ebrei non chiede solo l’accoglienza dello straniero, ma l’amore per lui: la filoxenia appunto, che è l’esatto contrario della xenofobia. Mi sono interrogato su quale sia il ruolo del Parlamento: accettare il ricatto interessato di fascisti e leghisti a recepire e ratificare gli umori del Paese oppure - nel rispetto dello spirito della Costituzione - attraverso le leggi, aiutare questo Paese a crescere.
